Furry Friday

Hello again!

This week's is more of a catch-up review for the post I missed reviewing last week. I did have a pretty good time in Texas and ate some amazing steak. Mmm... I will be dreaming about that steak for months.

Before I get to the recap, I just want to share a trailer I just saw after the break! Yep, it's that soon today. : )

Hooray! I have been dying to have pets in my Sims 3. I am so fascinated with building houses but have been too chicken-shit to delve into making my own items. I'll customize colors and textures with the in-game settings but haven't incorporated anyone else's creations yet. Leveling and raising the people is very much on the back burner because I tend to use the game as more of a blueprint for what I'd really want in my dream house and then bounce ideas off of the significant other. Lol, it's nice to get those kinds of details sorted out now so we'll at least be in the same book if we ever reach that step. Mmm... gaming together as a compatibility test. That's a potent recipe right there. Can you tell that I haven't had a meal to eat yet?

This upcoming release also satisfies my need to be surrounded by fuzzy and soft critters. Well, not for that reason. I'm just that full of inconsequential fluff as a person. :D Even if they are pixelated, they seem hella cute and I'm crossing my fingers that there will be more species other than the dog, cat, and horse. The potential personality and actions are pretty promising as well. I have to admit, I freaked out a little when it seems the cat ate the tragic clownfish.

Kharlo ended up writing about his Top Five Best Low Budget Games. Costume party seems like a dream come true for me. I haven't heard of it before but I'm sure I'm not the only one who spends countless hours daydreaming about dressing up in costumes and being a superhero. That seems to be a dying trend in kids these days. Oh yes, I said it. I cannot believe that Minecraft is only two years old, but maybe it's just the graphics that make me feel that way. Not only am I in awe of the fact that he built it, but that he/they did it to scale. Rofl, I think that we need Fat Princess in our house. That will requires some pleading on my behalf to get my boyfriend's brother to download it, but I'm sure it'll be an easy sell with a name like that. As much as I like cutesy, I almost barfed at Kharlo's initial description of Robot Unicorn Attack and half expect someone to start farting rainbows and sparkles. XD Also, I'm not so sure that Plants vs. Zombies can be considered a "low" budget game when it comes from PopCap (who is acquiring companies left and right lately). However, I do adore them and their inconsequential goodness even if they make games that make me loathe the living undead and horticulture that much more.

Ooo. The Top Five Worst Sidekicks. Instinctively, I want to rate Navi higher up on the list purely based on sound. Then again, I did kind of miss the banter in Twilight Princess and was pretty confused when the ball of light was just the cursor. I looked it up. Slippy Toad is male and looks more like a frog than he should. I love how under the "Critical Reception" section on his Wikipedia page, they discuss how he is an utter abomination. So terribad. It reminds me of a line from "My Name is Earl":

"I told you I was good to drive last night!"
"Dumbass, I drove! You sat in the passenger seat and steered with a paper plate."

Self-appointing yourself as a love interest to an acquaintance is... pretty much the epitome of psychotic fangirl stalker. There's not much more to the matter.

As much as sidekicks tend to be the butt of many a joke, we are actually grateful for some of them as Kharlo points out in his Top Five Best Sidekicks. I really adore LucasArt and TellTale Games for all their efforts (and successes). I enjoy being treated as an intelligent consumer who still enjoys a good potty/dirty joke from time to time and that mutual respect seems to show throughout many of their games. You would want a little Diddy to your Donkey Kong, Kharlo. Excuse me while I giggle, snort, and laugh to myself for a good ten minutes. That little monkey has been one of the best sidekicks in terms of utility throughout the franchise. I found it really interesting that Cortana was modeled after the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti and this is especially so because all we would have to go on are paintings and busts that we assume are accurate. Either way, she is what Navi dreams of being one day in the distant future. Lol at Kazooie. I was not expecting her, but it makes a lot of sense. That duo was not so much a pairing of brains and brawn but working smarter versus harder.

Well, that's all there is for me this week. I hope to see you again soon!
